Why doesn’t the plant I received look exactly like the plant on the website?
Unless specified, all images are representations of the general size and condition that you will receive. Plants are naturally variable and no two are identical. If you are unhappy with the plant you received, please contact us.
Why are rare plants so expensive in the EU?
While it can be tempting to purchase plants from abroad because they seem cheap, it is very complicated and expensive to import plants into to the UK. Importation is regulated and subject to fees, tax and duty, meaning that phytosanitary certification, registration as an importer and pre-notification of customs is required as well as the payment of fees such as a minimum plant inspection fee of £182, paperwork checks, expensive shipping, VAT and customs duty. For this reason, it is not feasible for an individual to import plants from abroad into the EU. Imported plants also often arrive dead, damaged or in such a state of shock that they decline and die as a result of shipping or customs delays or bad handling. As a seller, we are here to deal with the hard part of importation and acclimatisation and provide you with quality, stress-free plants! We acclimatise plants for as long as necessary, the absolute minimum for healthy plants that arrive with no damage is a period of one month and some plants stay with us for 6+ months if they arrive in bad shape. This is to ensure that the plants you receive are vigorous and ready for life in your home or greenhouse.
